Thinking about doing a goose hunt this month or next. Hadn't gone in years, there will be 6-10 people going does anyone have any recommendations. Which is better Texas or Arkansas? Don't mind driving a little bit.
Arkansas hands down. But the geese may or not have moved further north by then. Just dependent upon the weather.
I'll be honest with you, it may be a little sketchy up here. I haven't seen the whole delta but I did notice fewer light geese in my area in the last week.
It's hard to estimate numbers but I'd say I usually see 10,000+ a morning duck hunting. This weekend I saw MAYBE 1,000 geese.
That being said, I just may not have seen them, and things could change in a few days! It could be bang up again after this snow further north the next couple days.

Yep. Warm weather and south winds and the geese go north. Cold fronts will push them back but they want to go north. Been a crazy weather year. We used to have as many geese as Arkansas. Gone is the rice, and so are the geese. We hunted Jonesboro last year and there were hundreds of thousands of geese.

It does seem like geese are pretty responsive migrators! They are here one day gone the next at times. I believe they are hurting our duck hunting a little by eating up fields. I can't stand the dang things. As I'm sure you experienced, they can be LOUD when they start flying in the morning.
Caught a flock of sky carp landing on my pit a few weeks ago. I'm going to have to start picking up my decoys next year and putting out an eagle decoy in hopes they'll stay out of there.

If you pay close attention to geese, if they get in a flooded rice field or a patch of marsh and eat it down the ducks pile in behind. If anything the geese help the duck population in our area

Meh, I may be in the minority here but I would be loading the truck up and headed to Missouri, more specifically with any outfitter that has access the the most land that butts up to squaw creek refuge. You could literally shoot a truck load of snows.
