    Radio noise/LED light

I recently replaced the fog lights on my super duty with a set of the CREE 18W light I got off Ebay. Sometimes on certain channels I am getting radio interference/static. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. My buddy did the same set on his Chevrolet and has the same problem. We talked about adding the old style inline RF things we use to use when replacing vehicles radios. I looked up a couple options by adding something called a Ferris blocker or something like that. Any input would be great. Thanks, BJ.

Same sorta thing happens when I have my phone charger plugged in and my phone plugged up.

My light bar makes my fm radio go to static. Haven't investigated it as I just use Sirius radio when I've got the light bar on.

Me too! GPS plugged in does the same thing.

Doesn't happen on XM so I just gave up on FM.

My LED's do the same to the weak channels.

I listened to a tech type radio program not long ago. The speaker was talking about LED Christmas lights. Said that LED's either emitted or competed for a certain banwith radio frequency. It was way above my head and i dont have LED lights so i did not pay a ehole lot of attention.
You might google Your LED problem and see if there is a fix

            Google LED radio interference

Noise in your audio system is generally due to feedback through the ground circuits in your vehicle. Depending on where items are grounded and how well they are, can make a huge difference.

If you installed a light bar and grounded it to the frame by drilling a hole and didn't clean the paint off around it, it will be noisy. The blocks you the OP is referring to are ferrite beads. They will help with the noise, depending on how much there is.

I suggest recheck your connections, especially the ground side and make sure they aren't loose, corroded or not making good clean contact.

I read about the beads, I will try those out. Plus I may add another ground wire, but they are currently grounded through the trucks harness.

I have led bulbs in all my lights on my truck. The only time I et interference is when listening to AM talk stations.

I dont think grounding is going to do you any good from what I have read on the subject.

We use the ferrite beads at work to isolate RF interference...

By grounding into the harness you are introducing a new source of noise. Did you just twist the wires together and cover with electrical tape? Or did you solder the wires together and cover it all with shrink tubing?

Solder less terminals will help with a clean connection and help reducing noise. Personally I don't think a ferrite bead will help much, but it might.

We block RFI from 15 KW RF sources with the ferrite beads...they work..place the bead as close as possible to the light roll wire into one loop and close the clamp around the wire...cheap light systems do not have proper RFI suppression

I tapped into the existing harness with a wire connector. I may just try ungrounding the light from the harness and send it straight to the frame before anything else.
