    I actually knew that already. I have had some guys in the shop that would hit the brad with a hammer so it wouldn't move, and then it would give them trouble. Of course you have to be working at a +/- 1/16" level before it matters anyways.

Took me forever to get his mind wrapped around why it did that and that it was designed that way on purpose.

              One other feature the lady didn't point out is the slot in the end that you hook to a screw or nail you can set your pencil at any given measurement and draw a perfect circle providing you keep writing instrument in place.

                anyone of you experts know what the black diamonds are used for? the measurement is like 19 5/16" if i remember, i have asked hundreds of folks

                  Not really used anymore, track builders (years ago) used to use it as a center mark. It would save I believe 1 stud per 8' center. Just a way to save money/material.

                    This is correct.

                    Mobile homes and others where cost saving is primary.....and you are building walls in 8' sections.
