I need a duck ID help

I’m not much of a duck hunter but I have been thinking about giving it a shot. Yesterday I had a few ducks on my tank and before I could get a good look at them they took off. From what I could tell in flight they were black with a white chest and belly and a blue bill. There may have been some white on the wing but I’m not positive I was looking closer at the head and bill. Any idea what these were?

Yes to blue bill/ lesser scaup
Pretty bird and great mount
Slightly below average on taste depending on how you cook em
Great in gumbo and jalapeño popper wraps


The easiest way to tell the difference is a ring neck will have a white outline in its bill and the lesser scaup won't
