As said, they are grazers, and will feed all day. I like to get out in the brush, and find them during the middle of the day. They are hard to sneak up on, but can be done on a windy day if you go slow, and glass allot. Pretty dang gratifying when you connect. If there is no wind, you might as well camp out somewhere!
As far as alfalfa goes........if they don't already feed it on the lease, I would skip it. Might do more harm than good. These are some spooky deer. In my experience, Anything out of the ordinary, and they bolt.
