I've asked around and gotten a few different answers, but let's see what the green screen has to say. When is it time to get your bow restrung? Are there any specifics I should know?

I change mine once a year.
I look at it like this:
There are MANY varriables that come into play when bowhunting. Why not take one them out of the eqaution. Hence the reason I change mine once a year. Plus the man that does mine also makes sure my bow is perfect when has my bow.Last edited by Deathrow Jethro; 01-20-2016, 02:03 PM.

there is no hard and fast rule,, most strings will get over 10,000 shots, if they are taken care of,,,
but that can be as few as a couple thousand,,, leave the bow in the garage or other place it can pick up a lot of dust and heat,,, not keeping it waxed, lots of time in the open driving back on fourth on a 4 wheeler,,, you should probably change it at least every couple of years even if you do not shoot a lot..
bow stays in a case inside the house, protected from heat dirt and dust but shoot it often,, but keeping it waxed they can make 4 maybe 5 years and be in good shape....
things to look for, fuzzing of the string or cables, obvious wear on the cables at the slide or rollers,, nicks or broken strands,, serving separation on the cables were they roll over the cam. sudden unexplainable loss of accuracy or cam synch or timing... you need a string
my cousin had a pse vendetta xs,,, he took exceptional care of it, it shot lights out then overnight the accuracy was shot,, took the strings and cables off put them all back in spec, set everything back perfect,,, still would not shoot better than 8"at 20 yards
called pse to see if they had any idea,,, the very first thing they asked was how many shots on the strings,, it was figured to be about 18,000,,,, the tech nearly had a cow,, said the string on that bow was not expected to make beyond 5000 shots!
put a new set of vapor trails on it and it was back to 2"-2.5" groups at 40 yards just that fast....... the factory string showed no sign of wear!
