    Drano/Septic systems

Do any of y'all use drano if your on a septic system? I was told (by a plumbing company) that it's not good for it. 😏

I agree, do not put any chemicals into a,septic system.

Do not use any over the counter drain cleaner , ever. It seldom works and does more damage in the long run.

It will kill the bugs in the tank if you are on an aerobic system. I also heard pickle juice will kill them to. I don't put any chemicals in mine if I can help it.

I flush a quart of buttermilk once in a while to keep the bacteria in my tank.

I've always had good luck with just boiling a pot of water and dumping it down the clogged drain.

baking soda and vinegar, neck can't stand the smell but it will blast past some nasty hair clogs!

Thanks! I'm not sure if it's just a hair clog or if one of the grandkids might have dropped something in the toilet on accident! When the toilet is flushed, the shower drain burps.

Rid - X is what you should put in it but it is not a clog remover

I sprinkle a good amount (maybe 3 tablespoons for a bad clog) of baking soda in the drain and then pour about a cup of vinegar. You will see the "volcano". I do that a few times and then top it off with really hot water like Neck suggested

                    Hope that helps!

Throat some horse manure in it. To help keep your tanks down.

Sounds like you need your tank pumped.
