    Bow on a budget.

Looking at some of the bows that are on clearance at BPS/Cabelas. What are yalls thoughts on G5, Diamond. Have shot a Hoyt for years, but just dont want to spend that much. How much of the price on Hoyt, BT, and Mathews is brand and how much is bow would you say comparative to the big box brands?

Have you tried Hunter's Friend? I bought my last 2 bows there and couldn't be happier with the service and price.

Get a used Elite or Obsession! Lifetime Transferable warranties are nice, and you'll get a lot of bow for the money. On some of the other sites you can find them bare bow for around $350 or so.

If I absolutely had to have something new, I would go by a shop and try out the Bowtech Carbon Knight. You could get one setup for around $549 and they're a very nice bow. Even if you decide to eventually upgrade, they make a great backup, and the weight would be appreciated if you ever decided to hunt out west.

Diamond is coming out with a newer version of the Carbon Knight this year, the Diamond Deploy. Its a binary cam (not overdrive binary) for around $699 at Cabelas. Supposedly its smoother than the older carbon knight.

One last bow I'd mention thats decent if you like a single cam is Bass Pro's Blackout SS. its a 7 inch brace and IBOs at 335 for around $500. Idk what kind of sale you'll find but its a nice bow for the price. Draw cycle is a little harsh for a single cam, but its not bad. Has a good valley, but at a 30 inch DL there is a hump before it drops into the valley. I preferred this bow over the carbon cure, which was harsh for the speeds its generating (320 ibo).

It is a little loud, but if you replace the factory string stop or fill it with something to dampen the sound, it helps a lot. You'll run into the same problem with the carbon knight, as both are made by Bowtech through Diamond. Any of the bows mentioned that use a cable slide would benefit from swapping to a saunder's hyperglide as well.

The Mission brand bows made by Mathews are pretty good and cost less than the Mathews line of bows if you was looking for something new and great quality. Don't think any of the big box stores carry them though.

I bought a mission ballistic. It was around $1k for bow, upgraded sight, release, 2 doz arrows, HAD rest and a case in October. It was my first bow. It has been just over 2 months. I am addicted. Like bad. I've already upgraded to the Halon 6. I had to wait a little while for it to come in bc I am left handed. There is nothing wrong with the Mission. It is a great bow. But once you've shot a high end bow... (just my $0.02)

If I was trying to go cheap I would be looking at quality used bows.

Quick question. I am new to this site, bowhunting, archery, and hunting in general. With the exception of birds. I have been a member since October. I still have a ton of restrictions. I can't post in classifieds, and I have limited access to the site. It said I could buy something from the merchandise link but that URL doesn't work. Any recommendations?
