People would switch to archery equipment. Doe only seasons with rifle would control population just like KS and Iowa. Bucks would get an extra year or 2 of age in most situations.

              ewww

I like the heck out of my months of rifle hunting. And I like the heck out of my meat hunting. And I like the heck out of shooting a non "trophy" buck if I want to, regardless of what a trophy hunter would rather me do

It takes gentics, age, and nutrition. How would a two week rifle season affect the change these three factors?

Genetics are there but potential can't be reached when gunned down at 1-1/2 years old. More and more people are supplementing protein and food plots but neighbors get nearly 3 months with the .300win mag. Limit that rifle season to 2 weekends and you will automatically give bucks a better age structure.

Small properties in texas are virtually impossible to manage. Laws in the midwest allow small land holders the ability to manage and harvest mature deer consistently.

There is a reason Texas has the high fence syndrome.

I've hunted in Texas for over 30 years and it is still home. Would just like to see some limits on the rifle season like most other states. The inside spread rule was a good start.

I too enjoy meat hunting. I shoot 2-3 doe every year.

Yes, there would be some great Texas deer taken if that were the case. But Texas deer will never have the mass that those midwest and northern deer carry, generally speaking.

I think this is working out better in your head than it would realistically.

Too many laws around here already.

It might affect the age if the season was well after the rut.
