Gamo Pellet Rifle - Nitro Piston

Ok, got a pellet rifle with the nitro piston for 70% noise reduction. I did a search and didn't see an answer to my question.

Do these rifles get quieter with use?

I'm reading mixed comments on Google searches, so if you have a pellet rifle with the nitro piston was it loud at first, and did it quiet some or remain the same?

I have the Benjamin Titan np and yes it does get quieter over time. I have the .22 caliber and love shooting it around the house.

      Benjamin Titan .22 nitro piston.
My .17 is quieter, been about 2000 pellets thru that thing already and I haven't noticed any reduction in noise. But it's not a Gamo, though

A little. The noise I can deal with, the accuracy issues are what agitate me

I have the Benjamin Trail NP-II in .22 And it has gotten more quiet with more shots. I was very overly conscientious about it at first. Went with standard pellets at first. Then went heavy thinking it would be more quiet. The heavy were not as accurate as I wanted. So I went back to the standard and it got much more quiet as I neared the breaking in point. And a whole lot more accuracy came with them too.

I've still got lots of other pellets to try out, one of these days.

What kind of accuracy are you getting with these? I have an old school Benjamin that is dead nuts on at 25 yards, but is very loud. Just curious.

Is your's the pump up type? If so, the Nitro Piston comes in the break barrel versions. It'll do the job for me if I do my part, and focus on the trigger each time. But prob not as accurate as the old style pumps were being the scope is not mounted to the barrel on the break barrel types. My shots are pretty short around here. Mostly head shots. And I need to test it a whole lot more with other pellets to see which one will be best for it. I got it cause my neighbor and I have had a squirrel problem in his pecan tree eating all the pecans before we can get to them. Year before last, we didn't get any because 6 squirrels tore the tree up. It's a very mature tree. The year before that, we got over 180lbs of shelled from it. This year the drought has really stressed the tree. And the squirrels stripped all the leaves from the top 25% of it. We still held them at bay despite all the damage they did to it. They hate my Benjamin. Night night.

I have the Benjamin prowler NP .177, maybe a little quieter not much. There is no noise suppression though. Be ready to do some pellet trial and error. I have found the Crossman premier hollow points to be good, I have some premier domes on order. Another good tip is you tube trigger fix, Crossman and Benjamin have a great trigger fix using a 5x8, 5x9 bearing trigger upgrade that works awesome! I ended up using a 5x10, sweet trigger now! Good shooting.

After oogling them in the store I finally broke down and bought a Gamo Whisper Quiet break barrel pellet gun. Since then I've learned that their definition of "whisper quiet" and mine are very different. That thing is pretty loud and hard to keep the scope true.

But it sure is fun shooting squirrels and crows with though.

The first thing I did with mine was install a Simmons 3-9 scope because I could not sight it in. Every shot would be all over the place with the Gamo scope. No problems at all now. Dead on every time and it is my truck gun.

What did the scope cost if you don't mind me asking? Does it stay true after you've sighted it in? I can sight mine in and a couple weeks later it will be off. That can be kind of frustrating considering your targets are pretty small to begin with. Also is there one kind of pellet that works better than others?

My Gamo is as loud as a 22 short seems like. But it is dead accurate to 40yds on grackles and squirrels. Tried making a PVC silencer but it did nothing to quiet the piston/plunger slap. As long as I am standing inside the house with just the barrel sticking out the door or window, someone outside can barely hear it.
Most of the noise is right there at your face and not downrange.

It was one I pulled off a new Savage Axis but they run around $50 and I zeroed it in two yrs ago and it still shoots dead on.
