Preemergent herbicide - what to put out

The weeds were so bad in my yard last spring I want to prevent it from happening again. I have some nice Bermuda and would like to keep it.

It is dandelion season down here in Bexar county!!! I'm an orange oil and vinegar user myself. My neighbor tried everything home depot had to kill the dandelions in his yard but didn't work as well as the vinegar formula. I am trying to save the bermuda and st augustine in my yard by trying to kill it in my garden......

Tell me more. Can I use this on both Bermuda and St. Aug?

I've had pretty good luck with Scott's Weed and Feed. I don't have much of a green thumb, but it's worked nicely for me.

It comes in a liquid. I would put about 1 1/2 quarts to the acre. I would put some out now, then comeback around March 1 and put it out again. With all this rain you've got to put it out often and heavy. My family has around 4000 acres of turf grass all over Texas. Take it from me I do this everyday.

It's that the active ingredient in Weed and Feed?

Gallon of Vinegar, a few teaspoons of orange oil and a dab of dishsoap. It is a non discriminate herbicide but right now if it burns my grass no big deal. I got dandelions that look like corn stalks blast away!

On a side note the same formula above is the best fire ant mound killer around!!! But I keep my fire ants as pets in the backyard since they eat fleas and ticks and keep them off my pups.

I think it is. Just read the label and it should say. Atrazine will kill some winter weeds also but not winter grass. If you can find something in the stores that has 2-4D in it this will help kill weeds also.

Thanks. I refuse to use anything with glyphosphate in it. That stuff is nasty. But then again Atrazine isn't a saint either.
