    (NBR) pronouncing a name

My wife has an interview next week with a woman whose last name is "Cude." All their correspondence has been online, so she has NO idea how to pronounce it. Would anybody happen to know? Like, "sood," "sud," "cud," "sooty," "cuddy"?..................

Cooday? Not sure what the proper way to address it is, might be better to ask how to pronounce it rather than say it wrong.

SHe should just ask when she meets her.

Yeah, but that's kinda part of the game... I'm sure she is constantly dealing with this issue, so it would make a good impression if she walked up and pronounced it correctly right off the bat.

Shake hands and say your full name first and they will usually respond with the same

Yeah, just ask. I'm sure the lady gets it all the time for this very reason. I wouldn't sweat it. Can't imagine not knowing how to pronounce the interviewer's name would hurt her in the interview, especially if she just comes out with it and polity asks.

OR she could get annoyed with another person throwing out a wild guess at her name which she's probably heard over and over again.

IMO she should call her "cutie" lol

I agree, but there's a chance that she pronounces her name different than others with the same name. Would it be better for her to just ask up front or act like she knows how to pronounce it and get it wrong?

Google says it's French, Cornish and pronounced "cood" as in "food."
