Son and I invited to a buddy's place near Fredericksburg this weekend. Axis was on the target list but a WT doe could drop possibly. He doesn't have anything set for bow so had the boom stick. Saw plenty of WT but no axis yesterday. Feeder goes off real early this morning. 15 minutes before first light. Still can't see with naked eye but saw this guy thru binos. Had to wait to be 100% sure it was an axis. It was a long 15 minutes till enough light to safely see and shot and a few WT come in and meander behind the axis. So afraid he would leave. Finally the WT cleared and I had a shot. Took the shot and dropped in his tracks. Shot hit the heart. Thank God we had thrown out some alfalfa pellets. Think that's what kept him around. Here he is. 26" antler.

Son decided to take a WT doe a little later.
A great weekend. To put icing on the cake loaded up a bed full of oak firewood yesterday as well.
