Anyone know how to create an app?

I am looking for information regarding creating an app. How much does it cost? Who do you call? How much does cloud storage cost?

Let me know if you have any info. I am wanting to create an app for tracking game camera photos. Also, let me know if such a creature exists as well.

I'll ping a buddy of mine. He had an app developed for parents to keep up with kids and thier cell phone use. Here is his web site that can explain more about the app. http://www.4parents.com

He told me it took 3 years for his developers to create this. I don't know what it cost him

I've been looking at how to create apps myself as well as getting them on the app stores. Google play seems easier so I'm focused on android.

I'm currently reading this book on how to use a tool MIT created for app development. You don't need programming experience just have to learn the tool.

One thing to consider before you hire a development company should you go that route is the market/demand for your app.

See what else is available to do what you're doing.

    Is photobucket better?

    Is shutterfly better?

    Goodluck.

I'll follow up once I get the info.

You looking for personal use or wanting to sell/market it?

Cost really depends on what all you want the app to do.

I've had a similar idea of writing an app with analytics to pattern the buck and compare against the moon phase and temp. I just haven't had time to sit down and write a rough draft of the requirements or start coding it.

I can probably help get you a rough cost. Been in software development all my professional post college life and have been a manager giving estimates for 15 years... Feel free to give me a call if you want to discuss more. 512-nine66-two934

Not sure exactly what your are wanting but there are app template services like COMO that may satisfy.

My firm can build apps but we prefer to go a much more efficient route of building mobile responsive websites. The benefit of this, assuming you will want a website to market/support your concept (there are t many app only based businesses), is that you only have 1 database to maintain (cheaper both up front and long term) and you only have to build 1 platform, rather than Apple, Android and Windows, and within each platform a mobile and tablet version.

We can even make your website with a tile-style icon that can be saved to the mobile devices desktop, just like an app

Good advice from Playa. Responsive Web Design is a great way to keep your maintenance costs down.

Written correctly it doesn't take much to wrap that code in a framework and release to the various app stores. I think it needs to go to stores to give you more exposure. How many times have you searched the store for something and looked at another similar app?

I'm in the same situation. I have a idea for a game app but that's all I have. I don't know who to contact or anything else.

I also have an idea for an App that would be stellar.

When I did my research a while back the basic response is do not do it. Unless you can build it yourself and maintain it yourself it is a losing battle. The article also said be very careful of hiring companies that advertise that they build apps because the cost in the long run can be very expensive. It also stated that you need a way to mass market it to your target audience and that could be a problem.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Doing it right is not cheap or quick. You can wrap web in native frameworks but the experience can be severely lacking or lack major features of the platform.

IMHO you're looking at 6 figures for most successful apps these days. The days of one guy making millions off a quick idea made into an app are gone for most part.
