Long answe: for a low poundage bow that does not create the amount of overall momentum a heavier draw bow does, mechanicals are not the best choice. They rob energy by using it up deploying blades. This energy decrease either upon or after entrance CAN cause penetration to suffer. This doesn't mean they just won't work at all, heck some folks shoot rages at like 50# and get pass-throughs on deer. But, having a fixed blade head leaves zero question as to whether or not the head will be at full expansion upon hitting/passing through the animal. Fixed heads are also traditionally stronger than their mechanical counterparts, making them less likely to bend upon impact.
This is just what I have seen personally after a few years of hunting. Some guys out there have been at it a long time and would be fine with a mech.

Fixed blade and cut on contact ( blades all the to the tip) are going to give you the best penetration. Try and push a muzzy and a VPA thru a piece of leather or heavy canvas and see which one requires more " push". Not saying just these two heads but any head with blades to the tip vs a pointed ferral. 54 pounds should still be able to push the later thru an animal, but if in doubt go blade to the tip.
