Sounds like the second bear was shot by mistake. Had it ended there, then this wouldn't be such an issue. My guess is the guides told her to go and secure a second tag, to try and cover up the mistake.
whoa, 18 month prison sentence and $75k in fines. They don't mess around in AK. I think if they'd owned up to it an called the AK gaming officials immediately things wouldn't have been as bad. Bad decisions when probably panicking are not usually the best.

That was for the Dixon case. Completely different case.
Just like when you were a kid, if you make a mistake own up to it and pay the price. If you lie about it you usually make it worse!
Bingo!
It's a shame. That went from probably being an honest mistake and "teachable" moment on hunting ethics and being sure of your target before you shoot...to being a criminal offense. Be surprised if it does not cost her livelihood.
Think she was charged with a misdemeanor and about $5k in fines, or that is what I think I read last night.
She has to testify against guides and still employed at tv network.
This doesn't give sportsmen a bad name it gives her one! She should have called the GM immediately and told them what happened. The type of people that will make this about all sportsmen are the type that will never change their opinions about hunters anyway.
Daggum............first I am seeing of this! WE are taking waaaay to many body shots as hunters. If we don't get smart as local/national/international hunters in a hurry the avalanche will commence!
