    being a firefighter ...rant

People, please teach your kids NOT TO CALL 911 if all they are going to do is say " I think i saw someone on a motorcycle slumped over in a parking lot"
I'm not sure its even possible to "slump over" on a MC
Teach them to stop and verify that they see what they think they see before they call 911.
Every freakin shift i have to write a report or 2-3 in the middle of the night about something this stupid.

I sure wish I could slap the pizz out of some folks

rant over....maybe the idiots will wait until next shift to call again

Shouldn't PD be writing that report?

I'm sure they get to write one as well but if we get dispatched we have to write a report.

Do you use firehouse software? Pretty easy and fast to log it under false call. But, I know exactly what you mean by that.

            For a fake call?

I think our FD writes a report if they think about cranking the engine on a pumper.

We don't write reports unless someone is reporting an actual crime. I've been to 10 calls a shift and never written anything.

Just in general a call for service. I wouldn't take paper on a BS call like that but I have a buddy who works for a PD in Tarrant County where they have to do a full blown report (no call notes) on every call they're dispatched to. If a citizen calls and says "there's a squirrel in the road that got clipped by a car, I dont know if it's dead or alive, can you send an officer?", my buddy is over there typing a full report on a dam squirrel. Lol. Of course, he's a slick sleeve making $85K a year so he got no sympathy from me. I told him I'd type that report with a smile on my face if they'd pay me $85K to work patrol without the headache of rank and all that entails.

just walked in from another call and this was the only real emergency today.
15 years ago I never would have guess that there was such a large portion of the American population that was so stupid. My mind has a real hard time comprehending the stupidity

Could be worse...you could be in law enforcement. You get the same amount of stupidity, if not more, and you can count on even more paperwork defending yourself against complaints and allegations regardless of what you do, or don't do.

I can do you one better...

Had a lady call to report a working structure, somewhere behind her house... Not sure where, just somewhere.

She called back a few mins. Later, and said disregard... It was the moon rising above the tree line.

Be thankful. If they didn't call we wouldn't have this job.

Oh man, We have that type call every winter. toll road goes past our sewage facility. When it is cool out side there is a lot of steam coming from the facility. People drive by at 75-80 mph and call 911 for structure fire on that place all the time

I once had a call for a black male laying down on the tracks wearing a white t shirt at 3am.

                          It was a trashbag.

The caller saw "him" driving by at 70mph

Plus a thousand more like that.

It truly is unbelieveable what people call in.

At 2 am one night a caller advised that there was a man doing CPR on an infant while walking down the road......WHAT! and all you do is drive by?
well, nothing was found of course and nothing ever came of it either. So who knows
