    Burlap question

Has anyone used burlap as cover around a stand or blind? I was looking at using some camo Burlap as cover but the smell of burlap is strong. Do you think this will spook deer ?

i got some and just sprayed some cover scent--ea coon pee or acorn smell, then put it in a plastic scent lock container with cedar branches(if your around cedar) now you cant even smell the burlap--good luck

I've made a ground blind out of it one time and hand threw corn in front of it. There wasn't any corn there the next day and 2 days later I shot a buck 20 yards from it. IMO, the smell doesn't bother them at all.

Not at all. Have used brand new burlap on day lease hunts(Carta Valley Wildlife) with great success.

What he said. It works great to wrap around tripods or ladderstands to help conceal your movement. We simply attach it with zip ties. The only problem with burlap is it really needs to be replaced annually, due to dry rought and color fading.

No it doesn't bother them and it will last for several years.

How do get it to last for several years? In the past mine was ragged by year two.

I've used it right out of the plastic bag. Didn't seem to bother them. I had deer and pigs within 20 yrds. of the stand.

We've used it before with pretty good success. After being outside for a couple of days it doesn't really have that smell anymore, but they have never been bothered by it anyways.

Like stated I have on all my ladderstands up here to conceal movement and it works great. Mine usually last a couple of years but the stuff is so cheap I don't mind doing that. I just feel better not having to worry as much about the movement in my legs when on stand!
