    Best Hunting Boots

We are planning for an elk hunt this fall, and I am looking for a quality pair of boots for it. Haven't booked yet, so I don't know exactly where, but it will be mountain type terrain. The only kicker is that I wear a size 15, which will limit my choices. What would recommend for comfort and durability, in say an 8" boot?

    Thanks!

Kenetrek. Best mountain boot made, imo.

Check the footwear forum at rokslide.com. It's a website based around DIY western hunting. Tons of good info on the forums and good articles and product reviews

I took a pair of Danner Pronghorn as my uninsulated boots. I don't think I would have made the week if I had to wear my Danner every day. I actually only wore them once even with warm temperature we had. They didn't come close to the Kenetrek for a mountain boot. I didn't know if I wanted to spend the money on them, but so glad I did. Until you compare them side by side in the mountains you won't understand the difference. I didn't either till I got in the mountains, but the difference us huge!

Stoney Creek Rusa boots have done me great!

Boots are the absolute most important piece of equipment you will take mountain hunting. Till you climb, decent, and side hill at 10000 feet for couple miles it is hard to understand what the difference is. I love my Danners, and never thought there could be as much difference as there was.

Down here a $200 pair of Danner are plenty good. Not in mountains. Imo.

Those were the other boots I was looking at.
