best camera Based on battery life, qaulity, ect
I still think the old Stealth Cams have the best picture to judge deer by. I have about 50 of them but, they start going bad and being un-reliable about 1yr into the deal.
The only downside to the reconyx so far is that I think the pictures make the deer look smaller than they really are because of the lens they use. I have put multiple cameras side by side and taken pictures and the Reconyx pictures make the horns look the smallest. They do take the least amount of blurred or bad pictures though and that makes up for it.
We are going to 100% Reconyx cameras as we go this year. I have Cuddeback and leaf rivers and several others and they are all good cameras but, none of them are even close to the Reconyx in my opinion.

Alot of things to be considered with a camera. With outdoor electronics, you tend to get what ya pay for. While I do have a 3yr old Moultrie camera that is still clicking away, I have had 3 or 4 more that are not....and none of them would be over 3yrs old if still working. Reconyx and BuckEye are probably the two best cameras on the market. Their QC seems to be alot better than other cams, and if you do have a problem, their support is very good.
Chance of theft needs to be considered. I wouldn't go hang a $500 camera, if you have possible theft issues.
Most people go the less expensive route on cameras, hang them over their feeder, go back in a few weeks and have a bunch of pics and think, "Man, this camera works great!" If they ever hung a really good camera next to the cheaper model and did a head to head test, they would be shocked at how much they missed...I've done it, it can be staggering.
Now, if you think you need more than 1 or 2 cams, budget may dictate going with a cheaper unit...but if you don't, spend the coin and buy a really reliable unit. Between the battery eating, and gas expense/postage returning cameras, and the aggravation....a really good camera might seem like a bargain two years down the road.
