not how i planned starting the new year

Started the day calling a garage door repair to get put on their list for Monday. They said they had someone in the area and could be there in 30 min so he came out and replaced the spring that broke yesterday. Quick $450 spent to start the year.

After that time to run to Walgreens to get some infant Motrin for my 17m old. He has been running fever since yesterday. Before I get home I get a call from the wife that he just had a seizure and she called 911. Raced home and was her before they left the house. Had a couple of neighbors lined up already to watch the kids so grabbed diaper bag etc and headed out to meet them at the hospital. Although the ambulance had a few min head start I still beat them to the hospital. Docs ran a few tests, chest xray, blood tests and we're back home. Looks to just be a feveral seizure. We're back home and he's sound asleep.

What's up with the garage door? I've repaired mine a few times. Replaced spring(s), went from a single to a dual, replaced guide wheels, installed door opener, etc....if you are up to it, you might be able to fix it and save the dinero

Febrile seizure. It happens when the temp. raises quickly. It's pretty common but still scary!

Wear safety glasses if you are working on these. Just found out a childhood friend might lose his eye from getting hit by a spring from his garage door, while he was working on it. Must have been a freak accident, but you can never be too careful.

To OP, hope things get better! Hand in there.

Always!!!!! and gloves. the tension on those springs is crazy. Was pretty apprehensive when I set out to replace the spring. It turned out to be easy, but still was very, very careful tensioning up the springs.

Funny we said that as we were waiting to get discharged.

My day was supposed to be hanging out with all 3 kids relaxing before I went to chase the big buck one last weekend, not this craziness.

As for the garage door, the spring broke last night. I didn't want to fool with it so was willing to pay to have it replaced.

Brother don't pay them to do that next time. I posted on the other thread you started about coming over to get you lined out. Give me a shout if you have more troubles and I will come help you. I live out in Weir. Praise God your lil one is doing better. I went through almost the exact same thing but my sons issues was that he had foot and mouth something or other? Crazy high temp real fast shut him down and seizures.

Thanks for the offer, but I knew I needed it fixed before I could head out for a weekend hunt. My wife's car was inside so I needed to get it out and preferably working so she could load/unload the kids in the garage instead of out in the elements. They were available and weren't going to charge me an emergency or holiday rate so I said come on over. That was before all the craziness started in the afternoon.

As far as the seizures go, it is crazy when it happens out of no where like that. We are familiar with them. My 6yr old daughter had one when she was his age as well. On this one I had left the house to go get him some more infant motrin to help control the temp and was on the way home when my wife called to tell me that she just called 911. I wouldn't say he had crazy high temps because we were controlling it with Motrin, but as that wore off it would spike and one of the spikes is what triggered it.

Thanks everyone else for the well wishes and prayers. He seems back to normal so far today.
