Our trainer thinks mine might be torn. I can't throw or do anything with my right arm. Can't afford any more medical bills right now so trying to hold off. How long is the recovery?

recovery can be long, a lot of it depends on the surgeon and the method used, age can have an effect also,, there is no absolute time for recovery for me it was full year before i thought everything was right again, others have said only a few months,, do what they dr. says, don't do what he says not to,, follow the therapy don't let someone else tell you what to do

12-16 month full recovery is not uncommon. Had mine done in August of 2014, screwed up a whole deer season. Rehab is horrible, the shoulder joint has a greater range of motion than any other in the body. Do what your PT says and see if you can get a few deep tissue massages to break up the scare tissue.

Mine has been a problem for 25+ years, but this was the first year I couldn't draw my bow back without severe pain. It's time, but there is never a good time to not have use of my right arm! I dread it SOOOOO bad.

Been there, done that. Don't rush yourself. Take plenty of time to heal completely.

My dad had it done and was around the house for a few months after the surgery and then started rehab on it. A month into rehab he had the same pain as before, went to the dr and after several visits did a mri and it was torn again. Did another surgery but then time waited longer to start rehab. Well it's been about 2 months of rehab and he's starting to feel the same pain. Dr said he will do a mri in January to see if it's torn again. If it is, dad said he's using another dr and switching therapy places.

                      I don't blame him! Yikes!

I have a small tear in mine, but not sure if I will need surgery or not. I see the orthopedic in a few weeks. I wish I hadn't put it off, but we tried two rounds of steroids before doing the MRI. I just put down a deposit for a hunt in Ohio in mid November.

Ouch. I see an ortho in a few weeks about mine. Could barely draw the bow this year, really screwed it up working with an PITA calf. And I'm only 32. Hope they can do something to fix it or it'll be a long life
