Red Fish On The Flats: Video

Had a good trip on Christmas Eve Eve, my buddy filmed me and put this short video together. We found out we need to buy a polarized cover for the camera so you can see the fish in the water before the strike. With a little more practice we should be able to make a nice video. The hard part is putting your rod down to film. Enjoy!!
We caught everything in less than 18'' of water using soft plastic.

              Gulp

They wanted the 3" Gulp glow/chart mantis shrimp this trip. The green Gambler with white paddle tail wasn't the ticket. I think it was a little to big for the bite that day.
              Cool pic from past trip.

Very nice. Headed to Mansfield next weekend. Looked like the cleaning tables at Hamptons.

Looks like fun except I'm scared of heights...haha I'd fish from the deck of the boat!

How high is that platform? Wow! I'd like to see more pics of how that's put together

                              10' Platform

The tower is made out of aluminum tubing and weighs around 75lbs. Of the four legs that attach to the deck of the boat the front two are pinned so that when you pull the pins the tower can be lowered. The width of the platform is wider than the center console so that it can be raised and lowered. To put it up you simply raise it up and pin it in the front. It has two cross braces that are also pinned. Once you stand it up you extend the cross braces and pin them. Then two addition tie ropes are extended to cleats and pulled tightly. Once up, you climb to the top and pull the guard rail up which is lowered into the tubing and the pin it in all four corners.
It takes less than five minutes to put up or take down and is sturdy enough for a person to ride up there while the boat is running. I will usually stand up there as we cruise a particular flat looking for Reds. I will attach a picture that shows the tower a little better. Standing on the tower my eyes are 16' high.
