I got one for Christmas and was wondering what the word is on them???? I have a buddy that had one and never uses it. What are the positive and negatives of them.

I've heard they're pretty good
Slow retrieve and if you're working them hard you need to let them cool down a bit, but other than that, reliable

Yes sir...... I have read through them but just never know if you can trust them or not. I feel I can trust the GS more.

I put one on a Buddies TJ a while back. It sees light use but also sits outside 24/7... Been going strong for quite a while.

I hope it works out for you. The spool the cable is wound around is weak. My friend is on #12 with the warranty. If this one breaks harbor freight agreed to give him his money back. He uses it 3-4 times a day to pull a few thousand pounds

I bought one for $239 @ HF the end of last month. I mounted it to a cradle that I can put in any 2" receiver mount, mainly to use in conjunction with my 18' trailer. But for now, it's still sitting in the floor of my shop, untried.

The Harbor Freight winches have decent reviews, that's why I just picked up a 3500# for my ATV. I know a couple people with the bigger winches 9k#+ and they've had no issues, but they are rarely used.

I wouldn't expect something from Harbor Freight to hold up to that kind of use. I consider their products for light use. I also buy the warranty on larger items so I can return them like he does.
