How much to clear 50 acres?

Obviously it varies depending on how thick brush is.. Lets say brush is very thin but big cedar stumps every 10-20 yards throughout. Terrain is very rocky. Outside of San Saba by 20 miles.

    Any guesses on price range?

Also, how can someone get rid of massive cactus flats? Is the only way to doze them all up in huge piles? And what's to keep the cactus from just growing right back?

Remedy will kill any plant you put it on.

Seen prices as low as $400 an acre all the way up to $1700 per acre. These are from companies that do this for a living. Im sure a brothers uncles cousin with a dozer could be found cheaper.

Buy a used dozer, clear your land, sell the dozer

        Worked for me

Good Luck with the cactus. That stuff is tough to get rid of.

We had some clearing done and some right of ways cut on our place a couple years ago. It cost us $500 up front, to get dozer there and take it back. They charged us by the hour at $60 an hr. The dozer operator knew what he was doing and had everything we wanted done in about 2 1/2 days. He worked about 10 hrs. a day. All total he cleared about 160 acres, including the right of ways. Not sure of price in today's market.

Don't want to kill the grass in between. Plus it's probably 100 acres of cactus. That's a lot of Remedy. My hand would start cramping squeezing the trigger on those little bottles

I'll be optimistic. As thick as it is it appears the cactus was never touched so maybe it won't come back in near as thick for a long long time. It's crazy unpassable thick

Kill the cactus in place. Dozing it will spread it more.

This was an option. But since I know little no nothing I don't want to overpay for the dozer. Or get a lemon. Or just have it break down. Or like it and end up keeping it

How much (if you don't mind me asking) did you find your used dozer for and what size was it?

I was debating this also. If I could find the right guy I'd choose this route so the work would get done much faster with less hassle. Sounds like you got a great deal for +/- 2k if he cleared over 150 acres.

1k to 2k per acre in Marshall
                    That's today's price
That was only for a handful of acres
Doubt they'd charge $50k to $100k for a regular person (vs housing development) for this many acres

Sounds like he just cleaned things up a bit
No way you can "clear" 150 acres in 30 hours of dozer time

It was done. 8' tall rose hedge and huisache trees. So thick that there was probably a tribe of Pygmies living in it and we didn't know it. The guy didn't mess around and knew how to operate the equipment well. He even smoothed out our gravel roads while traveling between locations.

If you would like give me a call tomorrow evening. Have a brush mulcher, tree shear and grapple bucket for bobcat. Depending on how rocky it is we could handle the job I'm sure. Also do commercial spraying if you need. I will send you a pm with my number.

Dozer operators are usually around 100 bucks an hour
