    204 Ruger or 22-250 Rem.

I'm looking for the best flat shooting gun. Which one is the better round for killing nasty yotes and such?

Both are great choices for a varmint gun. If you don't reload, 22-250 may be a better choice due to more readily available ammo. That being said, I have seen more 204 on the shelves lately. Here's a little infogram for comparison

I prefer 22-250 also, I can move up to deer or down to fox, don't know that I'd have the same confidence on either with the .204.

I couldn't honestly say which would ba a better rifle but I can say 22.250 is what I bought and prefer.

I don't have any experience with the 22.250. But my 25.06 is one flat shooting gun that I use for about anything around here.

Out of those ......any really... I'd go .22-250
I'd look at the .220 swift ahead of the .204, but that's just my preference

Most guys I know that jumped on the 204 bandwagon are back to shooting their 22-250's. I much prefer it over a 204.

I have a .204 and I really like it. That said, I feel like the 22-250 is more versatile. I would like it if my .204 had a faster twist so it would stabilize the 50 gr bullets. 40 is about the max for accuracy in my gun(xr100).

Don't get me wrong. 204 is a great little caliber....but it's just that,"little". You have much more versatility with a 22-250 IMO. Love shooting my 204 though.

204 = flash in the pan type round
22-250= tried and true and will be around for a longggggg time

The only plus that a 204 has to me is less powder for reloading. So many bullets options in the 22-250 due it's shared size wth the 223.

Absolutely love my .204!!! It's easier on hides than a 22-250;from what I have seen. I use it strictly for predators. Plenty of better choices in my safe for deer and such.

IMO, Best of the two for all around would be the 22-250. That being said if its just going to be a dog/varmint rifle the 204 is more than adequate and fun to shoot.

I shoot the .204 and .220 swift. I'm an oddball and don't have a need for the .22-250.
To the OP, the 22-250 will be more versatile than the .204, but not by much if your game is varmints and predators. Add deer/hogs to the equation and the 22-250 stands out.
