The Timer and really any 12v motor. Pretty much all the same.
But like reaper33 said, ive never had any issues with any of my store bought or home made feeders. Just throw a solar panel on all of them so you never have to worry about the batteries.
I have a sunslinger on one of my feeders, was skeptical at first but it was free. It throws on time every single time.

I will simply say that I have eight from Texas Hunter products that have been running for 14/15 years with one controller replaced, one motor replaced, and the normal battery replacements. I would be afraid to try any other brand.
I will add that I have had coon related issues with wires to the solar panel, but that was before I switched to winch up feeders. No coons, NO MORE !Last edited by Drycreek3189; 12-24-2015, 02:18 PM.
