Sounds like our house, Grammy and Pawpaw are good for some big stuff.

Call me a grinch or an azz, but I've gotten to a point where I truly believe we would be better served if not a single gift changed hands on Christmas Day. Sit around, read a bible verse proclaiming the word of God. Have a meal with family members you haven't seen for a while. Tell stories to the kids. Play football.

Getting rid of both the stress and time gift giving/receiving places on parents/kids would open it up to actually celebrate the actual Holiday.

Jesus Christ is the only gift we need.
The answer to that is simple. You tell your kids that Santa loves Jesus, and that is why he gives presents, to celebrate his birthday. Christmas is just fun when you have small kids.

Anyway, I do agree with your general sentiment. Especially when it comes to giving gifts to other adults. I am not real big on presents because if I want something for myself I just buy it. In fact I have a game camera here on my desk that I bought that my mother in law is going to give me. She thinks my wife got it on sale but the truth is I bought it. I think a $5 gift exchange where everyone buys a $5 gift and then you can trade when you open it is a fun thing to do. At least that is what we used to do in my family in the past at our Christmas party.

Some of yawl are real Scrooges. I’m 37 and I still believe in Santa and The Christmas Spirit. Santa will be bringing the big ones that are too big to wrap. I took the day off yesterday to take the wife and kids to see Santa in Downtown Fort Worth. It was awesome. My youngest son even saw him arrive on the way there (airplane smoke trail) and I didn’t correct him. It’s a wonderful time of year and the kids get to have sprit and imagination. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Be careful not believing. You may be visited by 3 ghosts.

Now Billy no imaginary, oversized rabbit brought you this basket. I spent my hard earned money on those plastic eggs and mini snickers. If I see a rabbit around here I'll put him in a stew...Like Jesus would've.

                  Love me some rabbit stew!

And my 3 year old asked for a bow so he could start hunting reindeer like me, mommy and his brothers. There's a big box under the tree, it's from DADDY!

My grandpa used to tell us he shot Santa because he thought he was a prowler.
I knew it was BS 'cause there were always presents under the tree.

BTW, my wife told our oldest (a daughter) that Santa wasn't real at around age 8. She figured she knew already from kids at school. WRONG! It about broke my daughter's heart. We haven't and won't tell the other 2. Only the boy acts like he still believes. He may not and is just hanging on to a little bit of innocence. IDK.

Santa brings the big ticket items and they are not wrapped.

Even after my brother and I knew the truth my parents still put the unwrapped presents under the tree as if Santa had brought them, tradition I guess. Even though we are in our thirties now, when we come over for Christmas we still have a stocking full of goodies.

Although I wish I had an excuse to get out of wrapping gifts.
