    DR Horton vs. Stylecraft

So my wife and I are looking to purchase a new house. We found a 3 br 2 bath 18XX square foot Stylecraft house that we like, is 2 blocks away from family, and a neighbor is a great guy from the church we attend. However, it is about $190k.

We just came across a new DR Horton house and we LOVE the floor plan. It is a 4 br 2 1/2 bath 2600 square foot house. But it is 3 miles from family(we currently live 4 miles away and would prefer to be as close as possible), we are not familiar with the neighborhood, and it is 1/4 of a mile away from an airport runway. The kicker is this house is only $10k more than the other house.

I've checked the sex offender registry, the local crime statistics map, tax rates, and both houses are equal. So can you guys help us to decide which house to go with? Does anyone have any history or knowledge on Stylecraft houses vs. DR Horton houses?

DR Horton is good but get a good home inspector.

Yeah and stylecraft is a brand new community off of wortham bend, Brentwood. The stylecraft community is new but very nice and has a stocked tank for home owners.

We own a DR home and it's been good to us. There's a trade off for having a track builder build your home versus a smaller company where the house has a little flexibility and if it's 10k difference you should be able to let make the sales counselor an offer and for the same amount or less and land on the price you want.
