painting a reel? Need help

My girlfriend wants a pink rod and reel. Problem is (good problem) she knows how to fish and uses a baitcaster. I can't find a pink baitcaster anywhere. Any rod/reel I've found that is "girly" is cheap quality. So I'm thinking my best bet is to buy the reel I want and paint it pink. Was thinking I could save some cash and get some brownie points by doing it myself. Has anybody ever done this or could give me some advice on paint and the process?

I just planned to take off the side plates and any external parts I could and paint them pink and apply some kind of clear coat to it. Then I just have to find a pink rod to match. Thanks in advance.

Avet makes some crazy bright colors. If they don't make o e I'm sure someone that does guns like the cerakote/durakote etc could do the plates and it would last

Check out American rod smith for the rod...my wife has the pink lady rod and loves it...as for the reel she has a black baitcaster with pink grips
