A feel good thread for the season. Add your feel good story too!!

I just found out today that while I was deployed my wife had to take one of our dogs to the vet for a checkup. When she was about to leave this old man came racing in with a little dog in distress. She said the old man had dirty clothes on and was driving an old beat up truck. The lady at the counter told him it would be $150 for the visit. My wife listened as he stated he didn't have that much money but that he would make payments if they would let him. Brandy said he was really rattled and said his dog looked really sick. The man had tears in his eyes. She said you could tell the bond between man and dog was deep.

The vet tech came out and immediately took the dog to the back with the old man in tow. My wife, being the person that she is, gave her credit card to the lady at the desk and told her not to charge the old man for anything and to put it on her card, regardless of the expense. She doesn't know if the dog made it or not, but her act of kindness that day surely made the outcome easier to deal with.

Took my 11 year old yesterday to a mens shelter in a not to be named area. He and 6 other boys from his Boy Scout troop along with some of the parents prepared a meal of hamburgers, mac and cheese, beans, sweet tea and fresh baked cookies for over 140 men. 3 hours at the grill and prep work for a bunch of young men.
My wife had anonymously prepaid for the entire meal of around $500 which was the amount she had asked if she could spend on me for christmas. Instead she gave it to the shelter and told me before we went that my gift was the donation. Nobody in attendance knew, but as I doled out food and interacted with the residents I watched my son in his hair net serving cookies, I have to admit I almost cried. As each man genuinely thanked us for helping, I uttered Merry Christmas to each recipient.
It's hard to explain but it was like understanding the true meaning of saying the words. It was not some gutteral phrase or something you said it passing. It was truly like my heart and eyes had been opened for the first time in years. These men have bottomed out on drugs and alcohol and have to reach such bottom to reach a place like that. I truly hoped that despite the odds and statistics that each would turn it around and that by saying Merry Christmas each one would no that someone was genuinely concerned for their well being.
I drove away with a renewed faith in Gods power and the ability for men to be compassionate.

Amen. Thank you sir, and thank your wife and son for me as well.

A couple weeks ago my wife got wind of a charity event in which folks were volunteering to go to a location and put the stuffing in teddy bears for children from troubled households. She asked my son who's 15 year old young man, one of the popular kids in school, athlete, good grades etc. Wife and I have talked lately about making sure that he's not getting too big for his breaches. He's starting to show that teenage attitude very now and then, but he really is a good kid. When she asked him if he'd like to go, he not only said yes, but asked if he could bring a couple of his teammates along and his girlfriend. So, here goes my wife with 3 boys and my son's GF. She said they had a blast and we're told that they had completed more teddy bears than any other group that had come in to volunteer. I think it was really good for my son to volunteer although I was unable to make it this time. I'm proud of him for putting himself aside for a good cause. He rallied the troops and put in some effort for someone else. It just makes me proud to think about it. I hate that I couldn't make it.
