Tundra 5.0 Cummins Diesel

Whats the latest news on this build from Toyota? Supposedly its going to be the same motor that Nissan just put in their Titan. What are some pros and cons of this motor being in the Tundra?

If they don't build it as a heavy duty truck I'll be ticked.

They need to build a real four door (crew max) with an 8' bed that's equivalent to an F250.

Then I'll buy another Tundra.

just the rumor mill. Toyota has said they don't want to get into diesels in the US because of all the emissions standards.

Dang. I Guess the sales guy at toyota lied to me when i bought my Tundra. He said 2016. I dunno. If, IF they do make a diesel tundra. Ill wait for the second year and trade in for one. I love my truck, but it would be the perfect truck for me with a HD Diesel.

In 2012 they said they'd be out in 2013. In 2013 they said '15. In 2014......... well, it's a pretty easy pattern to recognize lol. I've seen "prototypes" every year for the last 4 years and it's always the same pics of the black dually.

Sales guy didn't lie, it's been on the boards for years that 2016 would be the year they released this truck with a 5.0 diesel. The market has changed dramatically in a year though. Gas is so cheap now, fuel economy is not the driving factor this year. Personally I'd love to see Toyota put their own Hino engine in their trucks. That would be a beast!

For now yeah. Ford has one on the shelf waiting too. Think everyone is watching how the market responds to ecodiesel. Ram took a big gamble with that truck, and if $5.00 gas comes back sooner than later, it will probably pay off in a big way.
