    Dog Joint Supplements??

My Dogo Argentino is displaying signs of joint discomfort. He's only 6 years old and about 120 lb, but he acts like he's 90!.... Until, he feels like chasing someone or something, of course.

Romeo is currently eating large breed dog food with added glucosamine and chondroitin, but I'm thinking he needs additional supplements - as treats, perhaps. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks so much in advance, GS!!

We have been giving our old lab a joint supplement for several months. Our vet recently diagnosed him with arthritis and put him on Rimadyl. Both seems to be helping.

                Aspirin for pain or inflammation?

What kind of fish oil do you use? I've only seen the pills/gel caps.

I have a hard time finding it but the salmon oil I use comes in a half gallon size with pump. Think the brand is grizzly keeps my fat cats moving and my huskys running.

I like that idea, but leaning more toward treats/chews. Any experience with any brands that you can recommend?

X2 Keep him on the Chondroitin and Glucosamine. Add Rimadyl and he will do a lot better. Have done this for a couple dogs and they did much better. One lived until he was 17 and the other one is 13 now.

One thing to keep in mind is if he ever needs to be put on a Steroid (ie. Prednizone) he needs to be taken off the Rimadyl.

Our vet prescribed the rimadyl for our dachshund. He had two bad hips. He took the medicine before the first surgery and through the recovery phase. He will be having his second hip repaired but hasn't expressed the need for more meds. Our vet hooked us up with a coupon or discount card from the manufacturer. The meds made a huge change in his pain and discomfort.
