The jaguar (Felis onca) is probably now extinct in Texas and, along with the ocelot, jaguarundi and margay, is listed as rare and endangered by both federal and state wildlife agencies.

It was several years ago some guys put a tracking collar on a Jaguar and it died. It was found in Arizona if I remember correctly. I can't remember if it died from the medicine they tranquilized it with or what but they got in big trouble over it. I don't understand why people can't just let them be. If they're there, they're supposed to be.

They should put up Ocelot Crossing signs so they know where to safely cross the road and people can yield safely.

While mountain bike riding some trails in south Texas along the river, I saw a jaguarundi. Beautiful but scared the heck out of me. Not sure who was more surprised. Will probably never see one again like that.

Ain't many coon hunters work for TPWD. If there were they would see a lot more of these critters that they say don't exist any more. Them coon hounds don't always just run and tree coons. Since I don't coon hunt anymore, coon hunting is now extinct in my family but I can say we have seen things.

We had a pair of jaguarundi hang around our house down in Riviera for 3 or so years. They would show up a few times a year in the yard. Beautiful but weird looking animals.

Yeah that's the one. They already knew he was there, the route he took and everything. That's a shame they even messed with him.
