I'm 6'7" tall need help designing/building my box blind

    I've never built one.
I don't want to build it 2 or 5 times
I want to build a box blind.
I've read most of the previous thread. I don't think some of those dimensions will work for me.
I want it 5x7 min - big enough for 2.
It needs to be semi portable, deer aren't 100% patterned yet.
    Windows on 3 sides
Windows high enough for me to shoot my bows, compound, longbow, and low enough for a kid to do the same
I'm not a big fan of folding chairs. Why?
My knees tend to be higher than hips, leading to lower back discomfort.
    Insulated

    I know it's a big complicated list

I would start by getting a saw and some alcohol. Then cut right at the knees. This should bring you down to 55 inches. Then go buy you a pop up. Good to go.

Spoken like a true short man, lol, j/k

Problem is not always vertical height. It more of the horizontal plane that gets me. I need something over 5' to draw comfortably without hitting my elbow on something or have my bow sticking out the window.

I will be building one in the future, so I'm in for other people's advice.

I will say, mine will not be a standard box shape.

Something big enough to seat two, and be insulated will never be very portable. How high off the ground are you wanting to set it? You could build 2x12 skids under an 8x8 box with both horizontal and vertical windows to address the bow part of it. Then you could drag it around with a tractor to set it where you would like.

If you set it in one spot, and put a feeder within eye shot, patterning is less of a requirement.

Maybe 32drawlength will chime in. That boy is a tall drink of water!

Ya the portable part is going to be a challenge. I guess you can build anything on skids and drag it.

I think making it 7' deep is a good idea. With your wingspan that will enable you to draw without sticking the arrow out the window first. As far as chairs, you might try this - A swiveling boat seat bolted to a cheap wooden barstool. I cut about 6" off the legs to make it the proper height for my blind windows.

I'm 6'7 and have the same problem you do. I've built plenty of stands and thought they would fit me comfortably and it just didn't happen. Its a tough task. My main suggestion is take your time when building it and make sure you think of everything.

You can also build everything in panels, and do the final assembly in the field.

Sounds like you know what you need.
I would build the base out of 2x6s on 16 inch centers.
Use 5/8 or 3/4 plywood for the floor. Glue and screw it down.
Make the walls 7 ft minimum. No need to be uncomfortable.
Design it to be broken down...floor, walls, roof
Being apart is easier to haul, set up, store.

I thought I had it bad. I started out by making my hanging stands fit me with my chop saw and a welder.
The only box blind I was ever comfy in was 8x6x7.
Buddy of mine built it like a V-nose enclosed trailer.
Started off as a 10x6 utility trailer. Built the blind on top of it with big vertical windows on each flat surface except where door was.
Steel platform then built up from there with lumber.

You can thank me later. I don't mind helping out with design projects from time to time.

At 6'6" I under stand hunted out of many blind's I could even look out of the windows they were so low.

                            Chew might be onto something.
Elevate it some, put a spinner motor, finish the top.
                            Walla..stand....feeder in one !!
