    Currently stranded....

I've kind of been borrowing my buddy's boat and when he can't go duck hunting I'll take someone with me out on the boat. Well the guy I was going to take a guy out today and he slept in. Knowing that there were birds and good hunting spots I figured I'd just go by myself. Get to the Navasota, put boat in and the motor starts up no problem then I go on my way. The road to the river was flooded, so I drove 200 yards down the road and into the river in the boat and then the motor chokes out.....tried starting it over and over again and it will start but then choke itself out. I'm just waiting until sunrise so I can see where I'm going and I'll just grab tree branches the whole way back. The motor is a 2011 9.9 merc, anybody else have any experience with it?

You sure its choking itself out and not losing prime? Had plenty gas lies, fuel bubbles and the connectors to the motors go bad on me. See if you can hear/feel any air being released somewhere, or simply keep pumping the fuel bubble and see if it will stay running. If so, you got a leak somewhere.

good luck to you. That's a helpless feeling. Do you have a cell phone to get in touch with someone in case you need to?

Make sure the vent hole on gas take is open if it has one, also is it 2 stroke or 4 stroke? If 2 stroke see if u can get plug out and clean it. Sometimes they get fouled. Also make sure kill switch is fully closed

Yeah I'm on it right now. Hahah just annoyed because I have a don't duck hunt by yourself rule and today I broke it. Never again. Haha luckily I have an electric wench. I'll be fine. I really only need to get about 100 yards and then I can just walked the boat

No vent hole and it's a 4 stroke

My current guess is that the low oil sensor is shot. Now it's not even wanting to turn over when I pull it and spray starter fluid in it.

                        Good chance

My buddy faced this problem before, except he was really low on oil.

The following year he put to much oil in it, lol

So last time we took the boat out I think it was low on oil. Then we put too much oil in it and had to take the cap and dip stick out and pull it for an hour to drain oil. Since I changed the oil but it's full of oil or at least that's what the dipstick tells me.
