    Jackson Ranch

I'm thinking about buying some property in the Jackson Ranch Subdivision in Junction. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on the hunting? I know this area was really good in years past but I'm not sure if it has been over hunted.

another guy asked the same question a few weeks ago. My reply below.

I've hunted a ranch that borders the Jackson to be the south (low fence) for over 10 years. Good axis but numbers have been dwindling a bit since the drought hit. See occasional Sika, used to see lots of fallow but they're all but gone now. Tons of turkey and quite a few hogs. Good whitetail numbers but don't expect to ever shoot a decent whitetail buck. The subdivided properties are just too small and too many hunters top grading for years and everybody thinking "well if I don't shoot him my neighbor will". Just about never see old bucks even on game cams. But if you're looking for meat and beautiful countryt it's awesome.
