Building a Bowblind, have a few questions

Ive spent pretty much all morning looking at different bow blind threads and designs. Ive hunted out of a tree all my life and now that I got my girlfriend hooked on hunting, I figured I would build something nice for the both of us for those really cold days and more comfortable for longer sits cause I like to do all day sits when the season winds down.

So what im asking is, is an 8x8 blind over kill?

Will ripping 2x4 into 1x1 to use as the wall supports be sufficient? I want to keep it as light as possible but dont want to compromise rigidity.

This will be maybe 4ft off the ground, has any one tried spraying greatstuff on the bottom of the blind frame to reduce noise?

    Buy 2×6 and use a table saw to rip 2x2's (1 1/2" x 1 1/2") for studs.

      Guna be huge!

I would also suggest 2x2s over the 1x2.

If you need any help building it or setting it up let me know.

I haven't tried greatstuff spray before, but I have used horse stall mats on the bottom to quite things down. Tractor supply sells them in several sizes, but for an 8x8 you would probably have to put two together.

use foam board instead....R-Max underneath the plywood flooring.

Great stuff will quickly degrade with uv light if it isn't painted or kept covered.

The last one I built I used 1/4" ply and 1"x2"'s. I sandwiched 3/4 foam board between the ply.

8x8 is huge. I suggest 6x6. Plenty room to tango if need be, but would be much lighter. I have a 6x6 and my son and I bow hunt together easy. He is 6' 215 and I'm 6'1 and a lot heavier. 6x6 is all two people want to try to move and I wouldn't be able to move it much.

8x8 is too big imo. Go 6x6, Plenty of room for 2 people

I built an 8x4 by cutting the 2x4 straight down the middle and it works great. Can easily fit 3 people but I use mine for rifle hunting

Go metal if you can. You will not regret it. http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...ad.php?t=51150

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'd love to go metal but am terrible at welding, I can make em stick but it won't be pretty. Was going to do 8x8 to minimize cuts. Probably going to build it all to be able to be taken down into panels. Thought about doing wooden frame with reclaimed tin paneling as well. Gonna play around with costs for now. Trying to keep it pretty cheap, splurging on deer view windows.

That's the best blind I have built. Will last a long time and don't have a lot in it
