any pancake air compressor will work for one nail gun. You will need to decide on whether you want to use staples or nails. if you use staples you will need to have a air staple gun that will shoot at least one and half staples. The same for air nail gun.
something to dig post holes with, tape measure, some string to make a straight line, at least a three foot level. Your line post should be about 8 feet apart and you will need to put about 3/4 bag of pre mix concreat in each hold around post. Its a lot of work to did holes by hand. You could rent a motorized post hold digger from rent place. Need some strong backs to work it. Good time to build since it's cool weather. Use all treated lumber
It will last a lot longer. You should run at least 3 runners to nail your boards. Since it is best to nail your runners to the post I would go with a nail gun that way you will just need the one gun.

Use galvanized ring shank nails or screws to attach fence boards.

          I use this....but it's a pricey sucker

And these cost almost as much as the gun

If you are doing a back yard.....just rent what you need.

I'm building entire fence for my self and my mom. Want the best equipment for future use.

            What's the preferred compressor?

            Post hole auger?

I'm building cedar wood fence. Which nails won't leave rust marks?
What size nails for planks and 2x4?

The aluminum nails I posted will not stain cedar.

The duo fast gun runs about 400 at Home Depot.

For a compressor, I like a gas powered one, but any portable plug in compressor will do a residential job if you get enough hose.

Use metal posts and 2x4 treated or cedar stringers, 3 for a six foot fence and 4 if you are going eight foot.

Rent the post hole digger and try to find one with an offset shaft, not the Earthquake models like they sell at the depot

You can rent a coil gun and post hole auger from Home Depot for a nominal fee. I highly recommend going steel posts instead of cedar posts, and use cedar pickets instead of whitewood if you want the fence to last. We use a 7 gal air compressor and it works great for fences. I think I paid $150 for it at Home Depot.

You can buy a 6 gal botch compressor with a set of small nail /staple guns for around $299.00
the nail guns that come with the compressor are two small for building a fence.
Have you done any kind of fence building? If your ground is pretty soft then you could use a manual post hold digger again need strong backs. Look in to having a fence co build it for you. They can do it in about 3 to4 days. Depending on location and soil type (hard to dig or soft to dig holes a round $16.00 a foot around Collegestation,. That's for completee Job and you can sit on porch and watch with out getting a sore back

You want good quality tools to build an average fence......???

If you want a trouble free fence beyond 5 years use screws.

X2 on screws. I built my fence with steel post, pressure treated 2x4 runners, and thick cedar pickets with 6 exterior screws each.
