I got in the stand early the first morning and had deer eating the corn 15 mins later. As soon as i had enough daylight i got up, drew back and realized this stand was NOT set up for a lefty.(comunity blinds on my lease and i didnt set anything up due to work) so i worked at moving a branch and trying to position myself where i could draw back. And what did i do? Rushed the shot and shot over her.
So i was ****** already at 630. Luckily about 30 mins later another few does came out. I set up, took a little more time and connected. I was pumped beyond belief and just knew she was dead just inside the tree line.
I sat down and was thinking how awesome this was when a group of axis does came in! I was thinking i was about to get an axis doe too! I was waiting for a good shot when i see horns come out the back. It was the 30+ inch axis buck everyone had been chasing all season!!! I waited and waited for the doe to get out of the way and the socond they did i rushed the **** shot!!! Right in the middle of his guts. Watched him run off woth the arrow still in him. Looked for hrs and hrs the next day and no blood or anything. Just hair. Cant believe i did that. Ive been sick to my stomach ever since. I was so ****** i didnt even take pics with my first deer. Kind of regretting that one.
      Sorry for the long read
So, am I the only one that noticed, why are you posting on a public forum that you're hunting game animals before legal shooting times?

It happens. Lost the first deer I ever shot and I'm still ****** about it (30 years later). Only thing to do is to learn from it. After all this time I still have to tell myself "pick a spot" (meaning ignore the rack, ignore the other animals. Pick a hair and try to cut it in half. Follow thru on the shot and SLOW DOWN.) It get's kinda loud in my head sometimes
Good luck, and I too was wondering about the time issue................

Sorry if my timeline in the story wasnt perfect. Idk what time exactly it was but it was plenty daylight.

But ill still b at it guys. No chance for a dog in my eyes. It was raining that night and we didnt find any blood.
Thanks for the insight also. I will definitely b practicing more from different shooting positions too.

I would totally not worry about that comment. But as said it happens man. Keep at it. Just use it as a learning experience. [emoji106]

This. If a bow hunter tells you it ain't happened to them. One of two things can be certain
                1. They ain't been doin it very long!
                2. They're lying!!!

Keep your head up and remember, you can never get enough practice

Sorry, if you're offended by my post about not being legal shooting time. It wasn't the only takeaway from his post. If you don't see anything wrong with the time then maybe you're an individual who doesn't follow the rules and gives the rest of the hunters, who follow the rules, a bad image.

It looks like you should've spent a little time catching up on the other posts in the thread, or else you just need to improve your reading skills, then since the OP posted this just for you......

The OP posted the "plenty of daylight" after my original post...I was responding to your post not his..

My point to the OP was be careful about what you post on a public forum cause you never know who is viewing posts. And, to keep him out of trouble. But, apparently, you all would rather dog me out..

Sorry for the bad luck! Now here's another lesson:
Next time you make a marginal shot, stop, back out and call a deer dog. We are 100% on finding gut shot deer this season. Not saying you have to call us...but at least get a good dog out there. You would probably be holding those horns in your hands right now.
Everyone makes a less than perfect shot now and then. A good dog represents your best chance of recovering that animal.

If you would've simply acknowledged that fact to the OP (and everyone else) in your original post, or if you would've acknowledged his reply sent directly to you, then you wouldn't have come across as the internet gustapo, and NOBODY would've felt then need to reply to your jerk-sounding post, in the first place. That's all I'm saying.
I'll take you at your word, so we're good, as far as I'm concerned

Yes, keep him out of trouble by jumping to the conclusion that he's unethical. Don't play the victim card just because your one man dogpile didn't work out for ya.

Anybody got some Ragin Blaze for this crawfish?
