Friday night I had this buck walk in. My heart was pounding, trying to jump out of my chest and get in my pocket. I settled my bow and pulled the release on him. He jumps up ran about 75 yds out. Turned and looked trying to figure out what just happened. I killed the cactus behind him with a G5. ****** cause I rushed the shot and my fever got the best of me. So I get back to camp text Jason( hogman7290 ) asked if the blind was junk now. He said he didn't flag your fine. So go out at 1:15 Saturday for my blind date. Jumped 5 doe on my way in. Didn't see anything on a long sit. Figured I ran them off walking in, and they wasn't having no part of my hunt. About 5:30 I scrapped the hunt, figured it just wasn't going to happen tonight. About 5:45 this buck made the mistake of giving me a second chance. Watched him for about 5 minutes. He wouldn't give me a shot, finally he walked from behind the tree he was hiding behind. He quartered, I thought don't get any better than this. I drew on him and he put his right front leg forward, even better. Settled my fever, touched my release instead of pulling it. Connected!!!!!! 5 years of hunting and got my first big bow buck with my Hoyt. About a 75 yd tracking with a lease member. Made him a star and took pics.

Annnnnnddddd that's what the rut will do for you. Ordinarily a big ol' smart buck like that would head to the next county after you sent him a warning shot. But the lure of the ladies will overpower his otherwise normal wariness and bring him right back in for a second chance. All of that is of course assuming that he was looking for love in your setup area and that's what brought him back (but I could be wrong). Doesn't matter....great buck with a bow. Congratulations to you for making the shot count and taking him down. Are you gonna have him mounted?
