    Bilstein 5100

Looking to level my truck. Last two F-150s were an 04 and An 09. Both had regular leveling kits. Wanting to try this Bilstein 5100 shocks out on my 2014. Anyone know how much they cost plus installed? Conroe area would be nice. Stick tires are starting to wear. Truck is at30,000 and I'd like to level before I get tires.

My son just installed Bilstein shocks on his son's truck. I'll ask him. He bought the ones that were 2" longer than the stock models.

Appreciate it. I hear they are the better way to go than just the spacers. Also wondering is it something I can do myself? Or do I need to compress the spring or anything? I'm pretty handy.

I just emailed him your post. He pulled the spacers out like you mentioned. He'll get back with me. Only problem is, he installed them himself. Seems like he told me they were about $135 each, but I'm not sure. I'll get back with you.

Yes, he had to compress the springs. He said that was the hardest part of getting them on.

skip the bilstein and go full fox 2.5 coilovers or if $$ is a concern go Fox 2.0 coilovers. Also check out f150lifts.com, "the boss" system. I am running fox 2.5" and the true coilovers are not match for the bilsteins, who in my opinion have been severely lacking in the quality control department. i have seen and read of numerous bilsteins crumpling under use. The Boss system or Fox are **** near bulletproof with much better components.

Slightly more expensive but ready to roll out of the box withouts swapping coils.

just ha mine leveled. a buddy of mine did them at his shop where he could align it after. we put spacers on and he could have easily sold me on getting new shocks, but said they weren't needed. I would not recommend doing them yourself. compressing those springs can be very dangerous.

either way it definitely needed an alignment afterwards.

Compressing the spring is very dangerous, like no joke. Have done two dodge 2500s, and just dropped the axle for a bit (one side on jack stand, the side im installing on the jack, lowered the jack, dropping the axle and releasing the tension on the spring, vice versa). Much easier and a lot less dangerous. Wouldn't recommend doing it your self and compressing the spring. Just take it to a shop, cheap enough and less time consuming.

I went with the Rancho QuickLift which is an all in one. New adjustable strut and new factory springs all you do is pull out the factory assembly and replace with the QuickLift one. I got 2.75" out of mine before it settled. Once it settled I got 2.5" This is on a 2009 Silverado. The one I picked up the 4 wheeler from you in.

Put Bilsteins on my F250. No complaint. Just used an impact and a ratchet strap to compress the shocks when I needed to (fronts if I remember). It was a quick job, been real happy with em.

Ready to roll out of the box meaning take old stuff off and put them on or still need to compress the coils? I'll look at those

Last I checked, you can't get Bilstein 5100's for the 2014 F150. Something changed with the front end over the 2013. I put them on my '13, but was checking for a coworker's '14 just a couple months ago.

Check with http://shop.totalautomotiveperformance.net/. They are very knowledgable, had the cheapest prices I could find, and great to work with.

Here's my '13 with them and 2" shackles on the back.

Yea I heard they changed something around for 2014. Why I was asking. Why can't they ever just leave things be.
