I have always happy with what I got I always seem to have deer. A couple of years ago I started getting in the habit of asking my self what can I do to help my deer at our place. Now mind you I have only 56 acres or so and my neighbors can shoot what ever they want. But about five years ago I started planting different food plots along with my normal oats. A year or two later I was seeing bigger and bigger deer. Then I started feeding corn all year long. Mainly due to if they want it, it is there. What do you know I saw even bigger deer and more deer. My first ever recorded 12 point came to light after that year. Now I haven't shot very many deer in the last three years and sure haven't shot a deer bigger then an 8 but they are out there. I think the neighbors are getting them. Does it hurt my feeling?... not as much as you would think because my general deer population has gotten better. This year I'm going to start feeding protein and we will see what happens in a couple years. All I can say is never stop improving, it takes time but you will get there.

Want to see bigger horns, for the next five years shoot only doe. Fill your tag with doe and bring guests to fill their tag with does. Once the buck to doe ratio gets high enough only the best and most dominant busks will get to breed.
Well, OK maybe not. There is always that sneaky little guy that gets in there.
Kinda reminds me of me once.

Texas Whitetail are genetically predetermined to be 8's with give or take 125 points. Your property must have been a place that was very poorly managed at some point. Need to shoot a lot of does, introduce cotton seed and/protein. Manage the 8's and when you start seeing a 9 point plus, LET HIM WALK! Get with your neighbors. Talk strategy. It takes about 5 years to turn your herd over
