Several of y'all have asked, but I haven't had a chance to make it down to the ranch in Webb County to hunt this season. In fact, I've only had a few opportunities to hunt (guide for the girls) at all this season! But, late season is typically when the hunting gets good here, and I plan to spend a bit of time in December and January.
Michaela and I had tentatively planned to spend next weekend at CDLC, but with an overcrowded scene that weekend, we found out yesterday that we didn't make the cut. So we decided, instead, we'd spend the weekend in Webb County. I know, what a downer, right?
This morning when I woke up I decided that I should make a day trip to get things set up here. I made the relatively short drive, and since I made it before dark, I decided to crawl up in the Killin Tree for a quick hunt. There are a couple of does now on the sendero where I spilled corn when I drove in.
I'll fill a feeder and set up another after dark to make sure Mo and I have some options next weekend. Id love to add skinning a doe to my list of chores! I'm hoping to get in a quick morning hunt before I have to get back home for a Christmas party tomorrow evening.
