    First Turkey

Hunting at San Angelo SP and doing an all day sit going after a couple bucks we have on camera when turkey kept coming in and cleaning up my corn. I ran them off twice and the third time they came in around 11:15 I decided to let one have it. Shot this one at ten yds.

Gutted and washed him in the river and went back to blind. Now waiting for my buck to come out. Only a doe so far that was out of range. At least I'm not walking back empty handed and I've never had wild turkey so looking forward to it. Anyone have a favorite way to prepare it?

Breast it out, cut it in strips and chicken fry it! Cook up some gravy....Man, that's good eating...

Turkey stew, man its good. Boil bone in for 30 minutes or so, pull pieces, debone, cube or shread meat, throw back in pot and get to boil again. Then start throwing in vegetables of your liking, noodles if youd like and season to taste. One thing I will say is check tenderness of meat before putting in veggies. Its very lean so its a bit tough, but boil long enough and it will break down. Just dont want tough meat or dissolved veggies because they were put in too early.

          And congrats on the bird!
