Dogs first track.

Well my pup Chief is a year old and I've done a lot of mock trails with him. This morning I shot a doe with my rifle. She dropped in her tracks So I drug her about 100 yards and then went and got the dog and turned him loose. He made quick work of the trail. I'm happy with the progress he is making. He is far from being a reliable tracking dog but we are headed the right direction. In the video you can see the darker green path is where I drug her. I only got about half the track on video, but I was proud of the job he did this morning.

Question for the experienced trackers.... If a dog is silent when he finds the deer is there anything you can do to make them vocal? Or should I just invest in a GPS collar?
