YouTube! Easy peasy to build. I'd suggest a complete upper for your first build. The stripped lower abs parts kit can be put together in 10 minutes and then just pin your upper in place.
Check out rifle kits from palmetto state armory http://palmettostatearmory.com/ar-15-05/rifle-kits.html All you need after that is stripped lower. You can get an Anderson lower from Primary Arms in Pearland for about $39.99.
Pick your main use for the gun, there are so many options, it is going to depend what you want to do with it. Hunting or tactical, beyond 200 yards or closer, scoped or red dot. Or you can do the basic 16" barrel, stock store version which is pretty good too

this^^^^^^^^^^^I had all my parts laid out from PSA. I then found a great video of many on youtube. I would play and rewind as I needed. Took me about an hour and a half. Most the AR gurus build them in minutes and no video. Enjoy
Without any formal instruction I was able to build three of mine from YouTube alone. About $40 in specialty tools. The right size roll pins punches can keep you from marring the finish
Ar15 .com also had several detailed how to threads for the builds
I didn't have the cash all at once and started with a stripped lower, then a lower parts kit, then piece by piece built the rest. I was too impatient and built each piece as it came, be careful it gets addicting
Do it right the first time. My first build sucked! I tried it on the cheap and was not happy. I sold the first rifle I built and built a high end rifle on my second build.
A lower is a lower, is a lower. Get you a cheap one and let the build begin. Just don't get a plastic lower and you will be good. I also like to have my upper and lower match, same build..
Good luck and Enjoy the build!
AR's are the tinker toy of the gun world. You can build it however you want and spend as much as you want in the process. My first one was built off of a drawing out of the Midway catalog for a reference. I am an engineer by trade, so it wasn't that hard to visualize how it went together. The gun can be built cheap and functional for about $400, or the sky is the limit. I have several I have put together, for my use the mid level components seem to be the best compromise. The mil-spec triggers are the first thing to upgrade. The 10 pound triggers don't do much for accuracy.
