    E-collar contact problem

I have a Dogtra e-collar for my Catahoula. Her hair is very short and slick. The contact points are wearing raw spots on her skin and making some calluses. I am looking for recommendations for replacement parts that would be more comfortable while still being effective. From what I have read, I probably need to tighten the collar but I still wonder if there is a good accessory.

I got this one for my pointer and it's much more comfortable for her.

How long is she wearing it for?

E-collars are not made to be worn for long periods of time. If it's causing hair loss and wearing the hair off you may be leaving it on for too long.

I had a female beagle who was bad about kennel barking. I fooled her into thinking she had an e-collar on at all times to keep her quiet.

Try cutting a small block of wood approx. the same size as your dogtra and screw it to her collar. Worked for me and I avoided rubbing her neck raw.

That has varied. She was climbing out of her pen at the lease so I left it on for the weekend. All I had to do was catch her putting her feet on the fence one time and she was broken from climbing out. The problem is that she acts differently when she has the collar on. I may need to do something like Froggy mentioned.

Thanks Garby, that may do the trick.

I don't think a different contact is gonna change anything if she's wearing it all the time. She needs consiquences outside of being shocked when she acts out or else she will only ever behave when wearing the collar.
