    Water heater problem

Have a gas water heater. Started having trouble with pilot going out. This morning it wouldn't stay lit. Changed the thermocouple and it lit up and stayed lit for about 30 minutes. Now it's back to not staying lit. Suggestions?

Maybe bad thermocouple again. Make sure the nut is tight were the thermocouple goes into the valve. Or bad gas valve.

        Down draft from being cold
        Bad gas valve

If you are in an area getting sleet and ice, go check the gas vent screen outside

Natural gas. No sleet or ice.

The pilot will light when pressing the red pilot button. But after waiting the 60 seconds and releasing, it goes out.

There was a bad run of gas valves on Bradford white water heater units, if that is the case they will give you a new one for free, you just have to get it changed out. This happened to me I changed the unit and no problems since then

Try cleaning the air intake screen it will either be on the bottom or on the side. Ive seen alot of them get clogged by dirt or pet hair. Also make sure the pilot is hitting the tip of the thermocouple.

Would it still light with a dirty orifice? Just not stay lit?

Check to make sure the pilot looks strong. A weak flame may not heat up the thermocouple enough. Make sure nut on other end of thermocouple is tight.

I would try a new thermocouple first since it's easy and cheap but I bet you need a new gas valve.
