How can OUR COUNTRY be fixed?

Please lets keep this one civil. I'm asking a serious question here. It looks like the only thing we the taxpayers are united about in The United States is paying taxes. Some people may think I'm just pessimistic, but it's true, our country is deeply divided in so many ways. To me, I don't even consider us as being a democracy. The way Congress and the POTUS and others appear to be immune to whatever laws are passed by them, the power has been taken away from the common man. I liken it to a runaway train. It's frightening what we do know about our so called leaders and their dirty dealing.

I'd like to hear your ideas on how we can come together and somehow stop the speeding train wreck we're stuck on. I love our country, but I'm saddened at what reality looks like. Deception, deception, and more deception, wherever you look.

I think the spiral down has started and can't be stopped at this point. Just my opinion.

I think the first thing that has to stop is the PC crap!

I agree that the train has lost its brakes!! IMO all you can do is hope that the mass destruction stays in the North East and dwindles down before it hits Texas. I'm sure the larger metro areas will be afftected but hope and pray that it doesnt go as far as most people think.

Congressional term limits and elimination or redefinition of executive orders (action).

            1. Separation of church and state.
            2. Non-interventionist foreign policy.
            3. More focus on education and border security.
            4. Less focus on abortion and LGBT issues. Let people live their lives how they see fit, even if you don't agree with it.
            5. Balance the budget, FFS - it's not rocket science.
            6. Return our currency to the gold standard, and abolish the Federal Reserve.
            7. Ban lobbying, so elections and laws are no longer up for sale to the highest bidder.

Thats a tough one. Those people who are running things work for us. We pay their salaries yet we can not realistically fire them for not doing their job. It is a sad state we are in. I think it will take a very loud shake up by the citizens to change things. It is apparent that the politicians do not want to change. How or to what capacity can the citizens bring on change is the bigger question. The great R and D division makes it tougher for the people to get together under one main idea as well.

This is pretty much what I believe. Out of the Presidential contenders, Rand Paul is the only one that would try to change the trajectory the government is on. The establishment Republicans are afraid of him, so they labelled him as a "kook" like they did his father.

Good stuff Sneaky. I'm not sure on 6, but I could live with it if some of the others were to get in. Term limits would help. Some, if not most of the politicians denounce big government but don't mind collecting a check for most of their lives. Some civility and common sense would go a long way too. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds libertarian! I like it. But being a conservative libertarian, 4 needs to go.

Term limits is a must! No politician should be able to retire with a lifetime salary on the taxpayers nickel nor have lifetime health care better than us!

We also need to close our borders for a least 15-20years and mandate the assimilation of all immigrants into the AMERICAN CULTURE!

end the reality TV show culture that has consumed washington politics.

"red states/blue states", "the republicans won, the democrats won"..

the media pushes that crap because it sells. I'm ready to hear about when the american people "win".
